and Sons has been a productive and welcome part of the community.
"Our lineup of equipment wasn't much when we got started." says Mr. George, "Just a used backhoe, an old flatbed truck and a dump truck that broke down on the way home right after we bought it!" In the early days, D. L. George (Dave as he likes to be called) and his uncle made up the entire work force. They started by clearing building lots, digging sewer lines and hauling coal which they sold for a dollar a bag. As they say, from the tiny acorn grows the mighty oak. Today we consist of three companies and employ over 130 people. Our construction company does everything from municipal water systems and site work to underground communications installation and environmental work. We are also a highly reqarded government contractor. With 48-state authority our transportation company specializes in dry bulk transport as well as priority loads and loads requiring special handling. Our manufacturing company is a complete specialty machining and fabrication plant with capabilities such as laser cutting, CNC machining and certified welding. Our quality and production capabilites have made us a "key" supplier to companies such as Grove Worldwide, Dresser Industries, Dupont and many more. D.L. George and Sons is an intergral part of the local community. "I believe a person should make every effort to give back to the community." says Dave, "We're working for the customers, not ourselves. If people aren't happy with your contribution, you won't be in business for very long." |
